LAS VEGAS (AP) — A veteran Las Vegas police officer died early Thursday after being shot during an exchange of gunfire with a man who was later arrested, authorities said.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told reporters that Officer Truong Thai was fatally wounded while he and another officer answering a 1 a.m. report of a domestic disturbance stopped a vehicle near a busy crossroads and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, located east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Platteville Police Department in Colorado released body camera and dash camera footage of an incident that involved a police car with the suspect inside being struck by an oncoming train. Police officers pulled a 20-year-old woman, Yareni Rios-Gonzalez, over due to a road rage incident that allegedly involved a firearm. An officer parked his car in the middle of the train tracks and left the vehicle in order to arrest the woman. Once the woman was handcuffed she was put inside the police car parked on the tracks. Multiple officers went to investigate Rios-Gonzalez's car for the firearm. While searching, a fast-moving train began to approach the area where the car was parked.
